In an effort to give parents with multiple children ideas for group fun, Lisa Hanson and Heather Kempskie wrote The Siblings’ Busy Book, containing activities that are easy to do, require simple materials, and encourage positive interaction among siblings. The book’s chapters are conveniently organized by theme and include ideas for fun play outdoors, out on the town, or inside on a rainy day. Also included are activities involving creative movement and music, kitchen adventures, learning exploration, arts and crafts, pretend play, seasonal celebrations, imagination stretchers, and more.
Each activity write-up includes a reference grid listing the specific materials required for all ages, an overview explaining the setup and general instructions, and developmentally appropriate guidelines for four separate age groups (baby, toddler, preschooler, and school-age child). Throughout the book there are lots of illustrations, parent tips, and personal anecdotes about the authors’ experiences with particular activities.
